Exploring texture

We have been exploring ways we can show different textures through rubbings and printing. Check back in to see how we use these to make our sea-themed collages over the next few weeks! 🌊🐑🐠

Oly Rush visit

Oly Rush visit

A big highlight of our week was meeting Oly Rush from Charity Project Planet Earth. Oly came to speak to Year 1 about plastic pollution and how we can help protect our oceans.

Oly organises regular Litter picks in Dorset that you can take part in with an adult. It is free and all the equipment you need is provided – including litter pickers, gloves and bags. Β His next litter pick is Sunday 28th January at Ringstead Bay, 12pm. More information can be found here on his website https://projectplanet.earth/

Solid shapes

Solid shapes

We have been learning about the names and properties of solid (or 3D) shapes. Lots of us challenged ourselves to build models or create them using magnetic blocks. One member of our class has even been looking out for shapes in the local area – they showed us how they found buildings and features that represent each solid shape in our class set! If you fancy a shape hunt as well Poundbury is especially good for 3D shape spotting! 🧐
